Why bills differ so much between states
A high bill can come from high usage or from a high price. Southern states such as Alabama, Texas, Florida use well over 1,000 kWh a month because of air conditioning and electric heating, but pay moderate prices. New England, California and Hawaii pay the highest prices per kWh, yet many homes there heat with gas or oil and use less electricity.
